Whitehouse Enterprises is an emerging social enterprise which offers advice, training and employment opportunities to adults with disabilities and disadvantages. Located in Ipswich in Suffolk, Whitehouse Enterprises was built in 1980 and was originally established to provide supported employment for people with a range of disabilities. In 2001, the ethos changed to progression and development and now involves helping people gain enough skills and confidence to move back out into the employment market. The criteria of employees also expanded to include those who are disadvantaged in the labour market.
Whitehouse Enterprises consists of various diverse departments, the original and core department which still plays an important role in today’s successful running is our contract packing department. Our catering department that specialises in an external buffet and specialist cake service also successfully operates six town centre cafes. Finally, our new Eco-Services department features three of our existing departments which are the recycled plastic outdoor furniture department, sign manufacturing department and our new garden maintenance department.
